What happened after 1945

German soldiers after  1945 could recognize what it  really meant to be POW's. Especially in Torun,  where Germans were captured by the Soviet army. During first months of 1945  Soviets and Poles captured German soldiers and civilians in Fort XV. The Soviet  camp was in Glinki. From letters and relations of witnesses  we know that the conditions there were very hard. Mostly soldiers and civilians had to work in farms or in the city. In september 1947 after trials POW's camp for Germans were definitively dissolved. Many of them went back home but the rest were moved to other camps. History of Germans after 1945 in Torun is really fascinating so that's why we will come back to this topic.... After few weeks of studies we found out new facts about history of Stalag XXA. Firstly, we recommend you a short movie (part of a German propaganda chronicle) dedicated to POWs form Norway. People who visited Torun showed us pictures and documentation about those British soldiers from Norway campaign. They were located in Stalag XXA in Torun. From 1:53 you can see how German propaganda built image of good and friendliness  to their POWs.
